The main theme of this artwork is to address man’s sinful attachment to worldly things in the form of fantasy, some of the things in this world, which have become vague, and the indistinct world tends towards erosion and ruin. The climate is changing. The earth is warming up, and there is now overwhelming scientific consensus that it is happening, and human-induced. With global warming on the increase and species and their habitats on the decrease, chances for ecosystems to adapt naturally are diminishing.

Illustration / Kodama 「木魂」- Spirit of the Forest

True to the meaning of its name, a Kodama is the spirit of a tree. Not all trees have Kodama dwelling in them, however, and usually these entitites tend to inhabit trees of very great age or size. While Kodama are generally invisible to human eyes, they are thought to mischievously play with and mimic human voices, creating echos in the forest. "Echo" has also come to be another meaning of the word kodama. According to Japanese folklore, Kodama was believed to live in the forest and was the protector of those with 'pure spirit' who entered the forest.
